Does China REALLY believe an open attack on US Allies will go unanswered?

I doubt they do.

So do I. I just think this is something thrown into the debate by some Hawk in Chinese Communist party, to be a discussion point. I doubt this is something that is Chinese official policy from now, maybe a long term goal at the most...
