This is pretty much old news. I guess its more recent headlines because of the detects in drinking water. Otherwise we've been seeing the same stuff in waste and surface water for several years now.

Its pretty common to find intersex fish in streams below waste water treatment plants now (due to estrogen and similar acting chemicals in waste water), and I've seen good documentation of bacterial evolution going on in streams below cattle feed lots from all the antibiotics getting peed out there.

Basically we have breeder reactors for antibiotic (and other chemical) resistant pests all over the country. Couple that with fallout from genetic engineered crops, and it will be hard for Kansans to not believe in evolution for long.
