If you believe in love at first sight you could always head down to the nearest pound and see if any dog there is meant for you.

I know its easier to get a dog with known personality from a rescue, but dogs already in rescue presumably have a place to stay while looking for a home and dogs in shelters have such limited time. Our city euths after 4 days for strays (by law thats how long they have to hold them) and anywhere from that day to a few days later for owner surrenders due to space issues. I have seen a ton of Pit Bull or mix dogs currently there posted on FB by a nice lady lately and its breaking my heart. Thought I'd toss that out there, just in case.
