Don't think of their kennels like prisons. Think of them more like dens. That's where their house is, their food and water bowls are, and it most likely has a homey sore of feel to them. Kongs work great to keep mine occupied. So do balls, rubber toys if they're not bad chewers and in one case a food pan. You might have to experiment a little to find the right toy but you'll find something if you keep at it.
