Good luck getting an answer that everyone agrees on lol. This is all new to me and i asked at another forum and this is what i have so far...
American Pit Bull Terrier
American Staffordshire Terrier
...Are recognized breeds. The APBT is the classic American family dog typically larger than the AST but they look pretty similar. Both are old breeds that were the result of mixing multiple breeds of dogs to achieve a certain look and level of performance. You can find more information about this at wiki pedia and various sites around the web.
The American Bully is recognized as a breed by those who breed them. They have clubs and associations just like the APBT and AST. These are typically the short stocky dogs with lots of muscles and the huge built in smile but not all of them look the same. Again this breed is the result of multiple breeds being mixed to achieve a specific look and level of performance. Some of the APBT and AST fans say they are not a breed for a multitude of reasons. I personally think its rather hypocritical for fans of a mix breed turned recognized breed to claim that a new mix breed is not a breed. Whatever floats your boat. I don't have a dog in the fight... literally or figuratively
. If the AmBully isn't healthy and lives their lives in pain then people should stop doing it. If this is just propaganda... its hard not to love those smiling little monsters
.
Gator looks closer to ABPT to me. He could be AST depending on his weight. And if you dont have papers gator is a mutt just like my boy
My boy is 65 pounds, lean with a huge head but his body isn't super muscular like Pink's pup (awesome dog by the way). I don't know if thats natural or due to more exercise but i see plenty of both. Some with bodies like Gator and my dog and some with muscular builds. Maybe the pup is a representation of their owner? My pudginess and lack of muscles is his pudginess and lack of muscles? LOL.
