Seatbelt harness is what we used when we had a car. Now that we have a SUV they ride in the back behind a gate.

Another reason for not having your dog in the front seat, even if restrained, is the airbag. Just like with kids when it deploys it could kill your dog. Just better to have them secured in the back if possible!
