My boyfriend and i just got our first house, it has a huge back yard for maximus to run around like a nut in. The problem is that our neighbors have a pit chained up outside all the time that barks and growls at max whenever he sees them. MAximus is just 3 months so he doesn't respond but when he gets older i'm not sure if he'll want to respond to the other dog. we patched up their fence so that max couldn't get in their yard and get ate up but right now it will only hold for a puppy if their dog gets off the chain he can get in our yard easily. I've talked to the neighbors and they confirmed that their dog was DA so i'm worried about what could happen in the future. Any suggestions on how to deal with this situation?
The best solution would be Don't ever leave your dog outside unsupervised.

Even with a fence its not a good idea to leave your dog outside alone. Not so much regarding the other dog, just that there is nothing stopping your dog from jumping the fence to get to their dog. I don't care what breed of dog you have, I've seen dogs climb a fence, jump a fence, dig under a fence. I witnessed a dalmatian knock down part of a chain link fence. If a dog wants to get out, it will find a way out.

So definitely do not leave your dog outside unsupervised. If you plan to you may want to look into some options to keep the dog securely in your yard.
