First Potential APBT!
Hi y'all, I know that I've not posted on here in a looong time. I originally joined the forum to research the breed as I was planning on having my own waaay in the future, but anyway, the "future" has come sooner than expected.
I was browsing Petfinder looking at all the cute Pit Bulls and then BAM! I found a dog that I absolutely knew I had to meet.
So meet him I did!
His name is Brennan. He is a little over a year old. His current owner found him in her front yard eating mulch
when he was around 6-7 months old. He was nothing but skin and bones so she took him in and nursed him back to health. Now he is a beautiful, healthy 55 pound boy!
So on Saturday I took my Pomeranian and my mom and I went off to meet him at a local pet store. My dog is strange when it comes to meeting new dogs. I've recently learned she doesn't like conflict, and when most dogs are all happy and excited to see her, she's like OH MY GOD, YOU ARE IN MY BUBBLE. BACK OFF. Anyway, she did pretty well seeing as Brennan is a really exuberant Pit Bull and he was all excited about being at the pet store, etc. etc.
So, next weekend we are taking him for a "trial run!" He is coming to stay at our house for the weekend to see if my dog and our 2 cats can hopefully adjust to him. I've been researching the breed like crazy since finding out that I was meeting him and potentially adopting him, so I hope I'm ready. He's already crate trained, housebroken, and neutered, and he currently lives with another dog and a cat, so I'm really, really hoping everything goes well.
I just needed someone to share my excitement with as I haven't told any of my other online friends about him yet.
Oh, and of course, I have pictures (even though they're a tad bit outdated, you'll get the general idea).
This is Brennan when they first found him. I still don't understand how people can do this and throw a dog out on the street with no heart or remorse for it.
And here he is over the summer. You can tell a HUGE difference and tell how much healthier and happier he appears. Since this picture though, I think he might have grown some more LOL. Either that, or you just can't tell how big he is in the picture. Maybe the latter half of that.
Wish me luck this weekend, I really want things to work out. I know I won't be able to tell for 100% sure if my pets are going to adore him, but I will hopefully be able to get a general idea if things are going to work out. And, of course, I'm sure I'll be posting a lot more with plenty of questions as this is my first true APBT.
