But, pit bulls are one of the most owned breeds in the US. So the amount of people interacting with them vs. the number of attacks is VERY, VERY low if you actually look at how many pit bulls/pit bull mixes are out there.

The statistics aren't skewed - it IS a matter of encounter. The point is that things you encounter every day and consider harmless are more deadly than an animal maligned for being a killer.
I understand that the the number of attacks is very, very low. But the statistics ARE indeed skewed, are you trying to imply that the average American interacts with a pit bull as much as a bath tub? Are you implying that babies interact with pit bulls as much as they are in a crib? The only way there can be a reasonably fair comparison between the danger of two things is if there is a constant, that constant must be the amount of interaction an average US citizen has with each thing. If I use a knife once and it cuts me once, but I use a screwdriver 100 times and it cuts me three times, is the screwdriver really more dangerous?

I am sorry if I took this post too seriously, to the OP, I apologize. I just don't want people to take these flawed statistics and try to defend the breed using them. Their are much more reliable and statistically sound arguments that we can use against those that hate our beloved breed. Once again, I am sorry if I took this post too seriously.
