I don't know if it's due to him being part and he got this trait, but my dog has that perfect, quiet approach. He alerts me with one deep bark and then stands at attention until he sees that there is no danger. Then he goes back to goofy mode. I never wanted a protection dog, I want a guard dog who alerts me to the issue only, which he does perfectly.
Plus I'm also a gun owner and collector. Im confident I could take on a small country should they decide they wanted my house :-D
