When someone is at the door, my dogs are allowed to "go nuts". The logistics of my home are such that, the very first thing I do before answering the front door is within a few steps and across the kitchen, I release the dogs out of the home and to the confinement of the backyard .

After I greet whomever is at the door and once the dogs have settled down and as appropriate, I allow the dogs back inside.
