Default They grow up to be "dragons". (seriously...someone said this about my dog)
I let my 6 yr old daughter spend the night at a friend's house. This is a guy I've known over 20 years. We're really good friends but haven't hung out recently due to work, family, etc... They have an English Bulldog (which is horribly overweight, has a hard time breathing, and has an eye infection almost constantly)...but my point is he has always been a "dog person".

So the next morning I go to pick her up and I brought my pup (Diesel) with me along for the ride. It was early and he'd been in his crate all night, and my friend wanted to see him in person so I thought what the heck...family outing.

We're playing and having breakfast over at their house. Diesel is doing great. He met his 1st cat...which was funny. Cat got all bowed up and hissing at him but didn't "do" anything. He was so confused he just stared at it and cocked his head to the side as if to say, "WTF are you". It was funny. He got bored staring at the cat so came back to chase the kids around and play some more. It was a fun morning. At 1 point though...one of his kids (8 year old) asked, "what kind of dog is he?" I told her he's a Pit Bull like Skylar (they all already know Skylar my 13 year old). She said, "awww...he's so sweet" and was holding/loving on him. Please don't get into the Am Bully vs. APBT debate because Diesel is blue. We're talking about an 8 yr old kid here...she wouldn't know the difference anyways so I related Diesel to Skylar since she knows Skylar.

Well my friend said, "Yep...he's a pit bull...and those dogs grow up to be DRAGONS that can eat you." The younger kids backed away as if scared to touch him all of a sudden. I said, "dude...really?" He said he was just kidding (and I know...he really was) but my point to him was these kids are ages 4-10 years old and some of them take the things we say VERY literally. Especially the younger ones. Truth is I knew he was kidding and really didn't bother me personally, but I just wanted to let him know to be a little more cautious about what he tells his kids because it could scare them unnecessarily. He understood and it was cool...but I just wondered if anyone else hears people say weird/stupid things sometimes that you KNOW is said jokingly...but you still wish people wouldn't joke like that about your dogs?
