Generally, you register your pups through whatever registry their parents are with. If they weren't with the same registry, you're screwed. If you were looking to register to compete in sports then you can get limited registration to do so.

The AKC has never registered Pit Bulls. They only register Am Staffs. The UKC registers Pit Bulls, but they stopped single registration. You can still register a dog with them if the parents and the litter was registered through them, though.
