Dogs and kids are more resilient than we give them credit for. If you do go I would suggest leaving her some sweaty piece of clothing that smells strongly of you and ask your brother to spend extra time with Sai so she won't pine quite so much when you leave. Also, ask him to do things to get her interested in life like take her places with him, just the two of them, that dogs like to go. Parks, fast food drive through for a cheeseburger..stuff like that to lift her spirits.

My ex-MIL had a Lab mix that was so attached to her when she injured her back and spent a week in bed he never left her side even to eat, drink or potty. No matter what we did he just wanted to be with her and was so upset by her being injured that he wouldn't even eat the food and water we brought into the room. Unfortunately, she moved due to work and was unable to take him with her. He pined and moped and whined but he eventually got back to normal after a couple weeks.
