I'm afraid

"I let my dog out in the yard by herself even though I KNEW there was a hole in the fence and sure enough, she got out, and then I couldn't be bothered to go after her so I waited for ya'll to catch her and bring her back...for the umteenth time"...

Is probably not gonna hold up to well in court.

Himself, herself, itself...whatever. Irrelevant.
