We get a truckload of wood chips dropped off about every year and we just shovel those on to the back yard.

When we have our "work day" this Spring (expanding the fenced yard,) and after grading, we'll be doing 50% wood chips and 50% grass. Unfortunately, we had tons of rain last year after we moved in. The rain washed away the "erosion-control" wood chips which exposed the black weed blocker (which became a game of "what's that?!" for the dogs.)
