When I adopted Cooper, my pit bull mix, my family was appalled. They are from the Detroit area and all they heard was the media hype. They worried for my sons and my husband and I. They feared for my other dogs. My neighbors made sure they checked with me that my fence was secure. My friends shook their heads and thought I was ridiculous to bring such a dangerous dog in to my home. Cooper changed all that. He changed what everyone thought the words "pit bull" meant. He softened the hearts of my family, my neighbors, my friends. People begged for me to find them " a dog just like Cooper" He was the greatest ambassador of his mix. He showed them all what a delight he was.
He knew no strangers. He loved children and many nights they used him as a pillow if the adults stayed up way too long. He made no enemies and loved people. Sadly, he passed last year.....
My new boy has had a rough start since I adopted him and I haven't mentioned to many people that I am mom to yet, another, pit bull. But I am confident, if need, Emmett will have his slew of fans as well.
