Default Sasha took a pretty good spill... Dogs and Beds, not always a good combination
I am saddened to say that Sasha is no longer allowed on the bed.

Sasha took a pretty good spill this early am. She was jumping to get up on the bed (which is pretty high off the ground. Our poodle never had any trouble getting up there while he was alive but Sasha always has.) Sasha has never been a good jumper and even though we have steps for her to use to get up on the bed, she is terrified of them so she jumps anyway. I think the minor issues she has with her lower back and just her build in general makes it difficult for her to jump.

Needless to say she took a jump very early this morning to get up on the bed. She didn't make the jump her upper body made it she clung like a cat to the bed trying to pull herself up but then fell backwards off the bed, hitting her head hard on the baby swing and landing on her side/leg.

She is okay, no broken bones or fractures or brain damage. Nothing of that sort. She is still favoring her paw, but only when she knows we are looking. She walks and runs normal on it when she thinks we aren't watching. So she is playing this up big time. I'm sure it hurts a little but again nothing was broken.

I think her confidence was hurt the most.

Moral of the story, if you have a dog that is not good at jumping and your bed is high off the ground. Don't allow your dog on the bed. Of atleast train the dog to use steps or pick the dog up and place the dog on and off the bed. Sasha could have been hurt much worse than she was. I had a dog bust her ACL, when I was a teen, from just jumping off the couch and landing funny.

Very scary lesson we learned this morning but thankfully with rest Sasha will be okay.
