Luckily, I haven't had to go anywhere where I was gone overnight and leave no one at home with them. I had to go on a work convention in August, but they stayed home with the rest of the family (since it was a work conference, I went solo). Vacations consist of staying home, which is perfectly fine with me because I don't like leaving the dogs, and I don't care much to be around a bunch of strangers, so I'm fine with stay-cations at home. Living in the country, it's a vacation to just stay home and not have to go into town.

If I had to leave them for a day or so, I would probably have my daughter watch them... not ideal as I know she wouldn't be home much, but I trust very few people to let them in and out with the correct crate/rotate routine that we have , and I constantly worry that people wouldn't be as careful to make sure that none of them got loose outside the fence or outside with the wrong dog. At least I can trust my daughter to make sure the right dog goes out with the right match.

Otherwise, I would just stay home, but being as I'm a home body, that's perfectly fine with me.
