My MIL was similar to your grandma. When she saw the picture of Harley (we had bought him but couldnt bring him home till he was neutered) she was very leary. She was one of the media fed "pit bulls are vicious monsters" kind of people. I could tell she wanted to tell us we couldnt have him (we are living with her right now). Fortunatly when she saw how pretty he was (his looks have actually made many people give him a chance, as weird as that is) she fell in love and she has since turned into one of his biggest fans. All she ever has to say about him is how good he is. She even makes excuses for his mouthing saying "its ok hes just playing" when I tell him no. (I thought she would be the type to thing "OMG hes attacking me!" lol she proved me wrong. lol

Its always nice when your dog gets compliments on how well behaved he is by people who dilike the breed. Its made me work harder at making sure my boy is a good role model for his breed. And hes done a great job at getting many people to think differently about the breed.
