So, isn't it our responsibility has knowledgable dog owners to call our dogs by the correct breed?

It's every registry. My neighbor AKC papers saying his dog was a St. Bernard, but the dog was very much a chow. So, should my neighbor go around telling people he owned a St. Bernard?

Why is it every registry? Because Registries work on the Honor System, they trust that when one hands in papers, they are being honest about the two dogs you put in that information. It would be extremely difficult for a Registry to check out every single paper handed into them to make sure the Breeder is being honest. That is why it is extremely important for the buyer to be smart about whom they get a dog from. Though, I am not saying the Registries are innocent. They are a business, so, sometimes even when they find out a dog is mixed (Whopper for example), they might overlook it, because of the money it has generated.

Other people being ignorant isn't an excuse to promote ignorance.
