Regarding drive in training.. I got a dog of a man I met in a dogshow that trains his dog in personal protection and there is this instance that the target is on a running car.. the pitbull rank after the pickup and jumps but come up short head first. He is stunned but went back and finish it task. It's on quality that you can onyl find in a pitbull. I believe in that scenario if some doberman got that accident or beating.. he might just stood there.. it got a youtube vid.. I'll post later.. let me look for it first. hehe.
No necessarily true. Indeed an apbt would finish their task because they aren't rank driven but fight driven. I'm not sure of the doberman but the dogue de bourdeaux, fila, and bandog would definitely have done the same as they are fight driven too. Though they certainly might come up short in the speed department, they'll still fight on and not back down. One thing that is worth mentioning is that rank driven dogs like the rottie and presa might be fine going against one intruder, but when there are two or three intruders, they tend to be intimidated and instead of going forward and standing their ground, they tend to bare teeth and back up. This is why I'd go for fight driven dogs instead of rank driven dogs.
