I adopted my pit bull mix named Gottie from the shelter about a year and a half ago. He was two years old at the time.

Gottie caught my eye when i was on the shelter's page but I didnt want another male dog. I was going to try and find a female dog. My family went to go check out the dogs. almost all the females that i was intrested in was either not good with other dogs or kids. Which wasnt what we were looking for. So I finally said can I see Gottie. He came out everyone agreed he was cute and he was really responsive and playing. We were a little unsure though b.c. he had been in the shelter for about a year and had no known history. I asked why had him been in the shelter for so long, aside from the fact of his breed and being black (cause black dogs dont get adopted out as much either), she said that he was shy around people. Which was very surprising for us because he was totally fine with us trying to play with us.

But we couldnt adopt him that day b.c we were goin to go on vacation in 2 days. So when we came back, we tried to go back to the shelter but the shelter is an hour away and there was traffic on the road and it was snowing and we called the shelter asking if there was a short-cut. She sent us in a totally different direction. So we couldnt get him then either .

Finally the next day I went to go pick him up from the shelter and evaluate him once again and hopefully adopt him. When they brought him out he was acting like i was his long lost friend! he jumped on me he kept kissing me! its like he knew!! !! I hung out with him for a while. I had to leave him the in play room while I handed in the paper work. and he cried for me! and he eventually patiently sat staring at the door waiting for my return. When the paperwork was finished I left him with a staff member to go put his food in the car. I heard him crying for me again and trying to come after me. Once we got in the car he kept kissing me!! he was so excited! i like to think he was thanking me! he would not stop kissing me! i had to pull over a few times b.c. he was kissing me too much! But he eventually stopped and fell asleep. He just KNEW that he was getting adopted!! Just like all his cage-mates that left him behind, it was finally his turn!! !!
