4Paws: I get the same thing!! Several time I have had men call to my house to inquire about the dogs. Then there is a few minutes of silence for which I think they think I am going to call my husband to the phone. Finally after a few minutes of awkward silence, I finally ask them what they'd like to know about the dogs as I could answer any questions they have. Some ask if the dogs are mine & when I reply yes, you can tell they're embarrassed. Others tell me that if my husband isn't home they'll call back. I then tell them talking to my husband would do them no good since the dogs are mine & my husband couldn't tell you the first thing about them. Boy, you should hear the verbal bumbling & stumbling then! lol.

I also remember the time when I didn't like the way a person talked & told them they would not be getting a dog from me. The fellow said "why don't you just let me talk to your husband!" I said OK & have gave him the phone saying the guy wanted to talk to him. My husband - who really isn't into dogs at all - just said "Uh-huh. Uh-huh. OK. Well, what did my wife tell you? Well, they're her dogs & if she said you're not getting a dog, then your not getting a dog" & handed the phone back to me. There was stunned silence on the line then a click.

I also remember when I called a fellow in my area to inquire about a dog. He told me I must be a HSUS plant & there was no way I could be into pit bulls b/c I was a woman & hung up on me!

So I guess there are ignoramuses out there not only of other races, but other sexes as well! Thankfully, I have never had a black person down me for owning APBTs & I have met way more men who accepted me than not. Those are just the examples of the goofballs I have had to deal with.
