I personally wouldn't crop a dogs ears unless for medical reasons...but everyone is different and I can appreciate that. I think most crops are done based on looks. Also someone pointed out to me that in show dogs if both ears don't stand the same way, they'll crop them so they look the same. That makes sense to me. I'll never show dogs so it's not something I'll ever have to consider-but I can see the reasoning behind it.

I'd never refuse a dog because of cropped ears...tail or dew claw removal...I'd just never do it electively either.
