I hope you know that doesn't matter one whit. In my city I was surrounded by houses & people & you still didn't talk to strangers, let alone strange men. Heck, I had a friend of mine assulted by her old boyfriend while we were right in front of my own house & no one heard us holler for help. So what was or was not near by isn't an issue in the least.

Or have you considered she was hearing impaired (not stone deaf, but impaired)? I am hearing impaired myself. I lost a portion of my hearing as a result of being around aircraft in the service. I do not look like I have a hearing impairment, but I do. I have had people accuse me of being "rude" when I did not respond to them when the fact was, I didn't even know they were speaking to me.

Look, I understand you need to vent but you're making much to-do about nothing. She may have been scared to speak to you. She may have an impairment you didn't know of. Or she may have just been plain out rude. I guess what I'm saying is you don't know the whole story behind this woman & when push comes to shove it really doesn't matter. It's not like you're going to have to go to work with her every day. (I hope not!)

And at least you tried to be pleasant & in the end that's all that matters.
