Actually, many of us DO remember when "Pit Bull" meant just one breed and that is the American Pit Bull Terrier; and to me that's exactly what it is...When you say "Pit Bull" amongst dog people, that's what it should mean -- American Pit Bull Terrier. Period.

If you want to use "pit bull" in the context of a discussion about the media, go for it; but knowledgeable people KNOW what "Pit Bull" means. The American Pit Bull Terrier deserves it's nickname like any other breed.

Yes I agree when you hear "Pit Bull" it should mean American Pit Bull Terrier, but it doesnt. "Pit Bull" is actually a term used to define three different breeds, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier(To my understanding anyways). When I hear the term "Pit Bull" I think of these three breeds, yes the first one that comes to mind is the APBT, but it doesnt filter out the other two.

If I am wrong someone please correct me.
