...as a resident in Ontario, Canada - where it is no longer legal to breed APBTs or have a pitbull able to reproduce...I would much rather find it a little harder to qualify as a future puppy owner in my own province - than buy & spay/neuter one outside my province before bringing it home...

I was lucky, this time, in adopting an adult dog with good temperment and health, locally. But I rolled the dice!! People can say anything! I have to take their word for it!

What weight is one whiney voice from Ontario going to have inter-provincially!!???

I agree strict standards would protect the breed and would much rather have the assurance of an expert breeders reputation backing up the temperment of the dog. I would rather deal with someone who actually cares about how the dog matures!!

I am just a working girl...I don't have a ton of $$. It is likely I will never be able to afford travelling to choose my puppy...want or afford paying someone else to raise my puppy until it is old enough for spay/neuter...then travel to bring it home...

...my current pal is leftover from before the Ontario Pitbull Ban...I am at a total loss as to what i will do when Kita passes...she is about 7 yrs old now.

Great post, lots of food for thought. Though it does annoy me to be reminded of mankind's vanities and the damage it can do to other creatures on this earth !!
