I understand what you're saying, but the people who do not keep their dogs inside the house while they are gone have chain spots set up, so the dog is outside, but contained and can not leave the property. The problem with leaving a dog unattended in a fenced yard is that they can jump it, dig under it, ect.

I don't think anyone was particularly harsh per se but, we just wanted to make sure the OP was going to make sure that this never happens again. For the sake of the dog. But yes, everyone makes mistakes, heck I've made them with my dog, and we all learn from them.

I also think its pretty bad that a dog that bit a person was allowed to walk away while her dog was all but given a death sentence. Its a stupid world we live in, with unfair rules, but thats why as an owner of the breed we have to be extra careful for the sake of our dogs.

Although I agree with the lot of you about proper containment and being held to a higher standard. I do think you are coming down on this person a bit too hard. If she/he could go back and do it all over again I'm sure they would. I know a lot of people on this board don't keep their dogs in the house. If this were an outside dog that had never gotten out before.... Now if the dog had gotten out before than yes I blame the owner 100%. But if it was the first time than I say cut them some slack. They made a mistake, everyone makes them. And don't you think its pretty rediculous that the dog has to be put down because it attacked another dog? Animals will be animals... If a dog can bite a person and walk away with it's life.... and another dog can attack another dog and get a death sentence... what kind of world are we living in?
