This is one of those things that varies greatly with each case of dogs being introduced together. There are alot of variables to think about for example temperment type, and just because they get along now doesn't mean they will later on in maturity. Also as you said you aren't living together so the dogs im guessing wont be together all the time but if you ever do live together or get married you might have to crate and rotate, and also keep them under strict supervision when they are together, and seperated when you all go to work or go to sleep. Another thing i would suggest becoming the owner of is a break stick you never know when you will need it, you might never need it but better safe then sorry. As was already said think about the long term. Bottomline is I dont see a problem with having a multiple dog household as long as you socialize, and do things correctly, and not just throw another dog in the mix. Hope this helps
