Like a few others have said , check the ego at the door , and go into it with a very open mind .
I went to a GolfTec Swing Evaluation last Tuesday , and got my EYES opened wide after seeing my swing on video . I had the impression of not wanting to have my swing changed as I golfed my ball around the course pretty decent and people said I had a nice swing .
Well now I know I have a couple of swing faults and see where I need to improve , this only made me want to change my swing for the better !
+1 for checking ego at the door. If you're not going to take what the pros tell you, you're wasting your time and $. I do know how you feel re: smug pros though, we have a few around here. Fortunately the one at my local course is really nice. We also have a few teaching pros and assistant pros who give lessons as well and their prices aren't as high either. I've taken lessons from an AP before and it really helped me out.
