Maybe the State Department is making nice with North Korea to thwart North Korean belligerence when Israel attacks another part of the "Axis of Evil", Iran- not that I'm of a paranoid or suspicious nature.

I don´t think so.
It is improbable that Israel attacks Iran.
And North Korea could make war on the Korean peninsula only.
