It can certainly not be worse.
the worst result would be that we keep the current Status Quo.
That would make much more sense if you were dealing with a rational leader, which in this case North Korea cannot be described using the word rational. What is it you guys expect to accomplish with these talks? You think they will all of a sudden stop the rhetoric of threats against South Korea, abandon all the efforts for WMD, and threatening everyone else protecting South Korea? You really suspect we can talk our way out of the mess going on in the Korean Peninsula? At this point conflict is a matter of when, not if and there is little evidence to suggest otherwise. (And trust me on this, I am not advocating war with them... just saying I have zero confidence in who we are dealing with.)
