I shot an 81 on a simulator once (my best score is an 88). The big difference that I found is that since I got a bit of a distance boost I was able to tee off with my 4 iron most of the time without being put way back on a hole which really helped me in terms of accuracy and within 10 feet putts were a gimmie which probably saved me 5-6 strokes on the round so going low is a lot easier on a sim than in real life.
Plus in a sim you always get a perfect lie. No having to hit a ball that's on the side of a hill where you have to take a super awkward stance or so buried in the rough that you can swing as hard as possible and only advance it 10 yards
