Don't see how handicap and distance are at all related. I am a high handicapper and I can hit the ball a long way. Problem is distance and accuracy are two completely different things. I normally drive the ball about 200-250 yards depending on conditions. I know I can hit it much further than that but I don't because otherwise I'll be searching for it on the next fairway.
I think you'll find that the vast majority of people here are very open about their short-comings on the golf course as most want to improve. By pretending your perfect all your doing is hurting yourself as you will never get any tips to improve. I've always considered golf a game of honesty. I eagled a par 5 for the first time in my life a few weeks ago and when I told friends and family I wasn't questioned about the truth of the story once even though I was playing by myself. I think as a general rule most people are truthful about their ability.
