Thanks for all the great responses so far, this is a fantastic site. I going to work on my chipping game hard with my 56, PW and 8i. I need to make getting up and down from 20 yards the rule, not the exception. Like one poster alluded to, I think practice therapy will be more effective right now than retail therapy.

One more ? - When using the 8i do you still put the ball on the back foot?
I mostly play each club nearly the same. The loft is what controls the carry more than any change in ball position. You can put too many variables into the shot when you start mixing lofts and ball position. When I'm facing a long chip with no rough between me and the green, I use my 8I a lot, even for 30-40 yard shots. I seem to have better control and make more consistent contact with the 8I that I do with a wedge for that type of shot. I'm less likely to chunk or skull the shot.
