Thanks for all the great responses so far, this is a fantastic site. I going to work on my chipping game hard with my 56, PW and 8i. I need to make getting up and down from 20 yards the rule, not the exception. Like one poster alluded to, I think practice therapy will be more effective right now than retail therapy.

One more ? - When using the 8i do you still put the ball on the back foot?
The coach who taught me the short game had me play all shots off of the back foot regardless of the club. I varry that sometimes depending on condition, especially for a flop shot from fluffy grass, but mostly I play everything off the back foot still. And I'll chip with any club in the bag if I think it will work best: 3-wood, 3-hybrid, 8 iron, PW, 54* SW, or 58* LW. Whatever will get me closest to the hole. Sometimes you need loft and/or spin, sometimes you want it on the ground and rolling as soon as possible, etc. Just practice with everything to get a feel for how they all react.

Spend 5-10 minutes practicing your chipping with a club you normally would not use to chip with and see what you can do with it, and vary how far away you chip from with that club while you do it. Besides being good practice it is also a fun way to break up practice and keep from getting bored.
