I think I'm gonna have to side with Acushnet on this one. If they allow PGASS to undercut everyone else with ProV1 pricing:

(a) they lose MAP control and open themselves up to price-fixing liability,
(b) every one of there other accounts will start screaming bloody murder,
(c) if they flinch, every other store will try the same thing,
(d) they lose perception as the high-end ball.

With only a few regional stores and no real online store, I can't imagine that PGASS moves enough merchandise to really threaten Acushnet. I think the standoff will harm PGASS more than Titleist/FJ. Whether you like Acushnet or not, they are the leader in many categories that consumers get into the habit of buying the same product over and over. If customers come into a PGASS and can't find their ProV1s or their FJ shoes/gloves, they may not come back.

ItT sure seems like an odd choice by PGASS for a game of chicken.
