I've had some sort of membership for nine of the last eleven years. I can't imagine not having one. As JB pointed out, it's about more than the golf. You meet people, the staff treats you well, and perks like a practice facility are hard to beat. It's usually easier to set tee times, and most places give you pro shop credit when you spend money. At my last club when it was all said and done, it probably cost us me $35-$40 per round and then there's the perks.
