I have had problems with my shoulder for years but I always seem to be able to play golf and do normal day to day things without much problem...however, it has gotten progressively worse and this year it started causing me trouble sleeping etc... Well I went to the doctor last week and I have been diagnose with a "labrum tear". The surgery is out-patient and is orthoscopic, however, the recovery is TERRIBLE...I will be in a sling for 3-4 months and the doctor said I will probably not be able to swing a golf club until April... My surgery is planned for December 21st as I wanted to get it done ASAP. I plan to keep tabs through the "Hackers Paradise" and hopefully I will be better then before...
You are not alone my friend. I am currently recovering from cubital tunnel surgery (ulnar nerve) on my left elbow, and as soon as I can use it, I am scheduled for right elbow surgery (ulnar collateral ligament). Granted, it is much easier in my case where I really can't play until April, but I was hoping to undertake a swing speed program this winter. You made the right decision. I tried to play this year with a bad wing, and when you want to bomb one, or try and muscle one out of the rough, you develop a flinch, and it eventually led to me developing the dreaded flip.
