I go for the middle, unless it's a distance that I'm really comfortable at; then I'll go after the pin.

I spent a lot of time with my range finder and a notebook figuring out how far I hit each club in my bag. I'm the least consistent with my 5 iron and my 4 wood. I tend to catch those two fat, and it lands me in trouble about half the time.
