Clay - I doubt you'll ever convince him. Some day - he may figure it out on his own. In the meantime - I think you're going to have a conversation that just goes in circles. Just tell him that he's wrong and walk away. Don't engage - that will bug him more.
That's about it. Just wait a few years until he picks up the game on his own. You may not even be associating with the guy at that point, and then it really won't matter!
