Please forgive my ignorance.. nassau?
It's a form of matchplay. A $5.00 nassau means you play a $5.00 match on the front nine, a $5.00 match on the back nine, and a $5.00 match for the 18. Three separate matches for $5.00. They're typically played off the lowest handicap. If I'm a five 'cap and you're a ten, you get one shot on the five lowest handicap holes.

Often played where the player that is behind can "press". A press generally starts a new match, often double the bet, on the rest of the holes. If I press you after the 7th hole, we'll start another match on the 8th tee which is contested over the next eleven holes. We'd have four matches going. Sometimes there can be more than one press.

Gentlemen set those guidelines on the first tee.

Great game. My favorite.
