The golf gods usually seem to know how I am playing - when I am skating along hitting it well and scoring well, it seems the wayward shot manages to hit the correct side of the tree to ricochet back into play, and the poorly struck chip seems to release and run out within gimme range. By the same token, when the swing seems sour and the scoring isn't quite happening, that seems to be when the ball kicks up the slope to find trouble, or slides from center cut out to the guardrails just as the putt seemed like it was going in. It just seems like the good breaks come when the game is on and the bad ones are rampant when it is off.
