Yes, once the world finds a good substitute for their oil we will pull out and leave them alone. Or, in the end, we will leave when it runs out. Except for that they really have nothing we want, they're not even a trade nexus anymore as it's actually cheaper to ship containerized goods across Russia by rail to Europe and the Suez canal isn't big enough for most container ships, nor is it really practical to make it so.
The Israeli thing is indeed a family squabble and like most such will be patched up as soon as they realize America no longer needs a catspaw in the area and they're going to have to work together to survive without the oil money.
The Middle East is a backwater to the main area of World History and has been since 1492 when it began a slow shifting from the Med to the Atlantic basin. It's now the Pacific Basin and that should remain so for some time. In 50 years Arabia will be dreaming of it's history again, just as it did for nearly a millenia before the World Wars.
