I do this too. I guess I need the confidence to hit my intended shot before I proceed.

Yeah, it lets me walk off the course knowing I'm capable of hitting good (or better) and more consistant shots. The first few rounds I ever played, I didnt do this, and remember being more frustrated than anything because I couldn't seem to remember any quality shots. Knowing I can get there makes me keep coming back. Plus, if I'm going to pay $30-60 a round, I'm going to get a few extra shots in at a quality practice enviornment...
