I was walking 18 holes that took me past closing time. When I got to the front gate to go to my car, I found I was locked in. Actually this has happened twice to me at the same course. First time my wife was in the parking lot waiting for me, and told the employee I was still on the course at the 18th hole. He unlocked the gate to let me out.
This last time I had to do my "Jungle Jim" impersonation, and climb over the fence to get out. My timing was not the best, as a Metro prowl car just happen to see me, and had a few questions for me. Luckily I still had my dated receipt.
As for sneaking in after hours, golf courses where home owners back yards back up to the fairway, the golf course usually lets home owner's use the course for what ever reason after hours. so it would hard for them to distinguish between a home owner, and a non-home owner. Other courses in our area employ security guard(s) who drive golf carts around the course all night long to look for folks night golfing. Other courses allow free night golfing, if prior arrangements are made for small groups, but golf course owned equipment is not used, including the flags. Others charge for the same privilege.
With Vegas being the bright light city it is, the glare, or light splash tends to illuminate the valley just enough to where you can actually see enough at dark to golf. Not all the courses, but those nearer down town, and the strip. Couple that with some glow in the dark golf balls and a good time can be had.
