Depending on the situation, we play ready golf on the green too. If someone is raking the bunker or hits over the green and has to walk around - one or more of us may putt out with one person tending the flagstick.
Yes.... rigid adherence to honors and who's away is a prime contributor to slow play. If you are ready to play and not holding someone else up or in his line of play, whether on the green or off, then go ahead and hit. I find nothing more frustrating than standing on the tee waiting and watching the players ahead of me while they sort out who is 2 yards further away on opposite sides of the fairway. Hit the stupid ball and get out of the way!!!!
