It saves time if you don't have to walk around the cart to get to your ball.
Since these days I always ride, I've ridden with many other drivers (and driven with many riders), and I've never had anyone comment, or even notice this issue that seems to be important to you. Most players seem to feel that walking as a part of the game, so what's a few more steps.... and maybe 3 seconds of time? I guess I'll never see the significance.

If for any reason that you cannot park on the "correct side" of the ball, I prefer the cart to be parked in line with the ball and the target (of course, on the tee side of the ball!)
For most people I know that would be the least favorite place. Why is it a problem if it's out of sight behind you? It's just sitting there... no different from a tree or a bush. As long as it's 15 feet or so away, then it can't possibly be an issue unless you play with inconsiderate mates. Then it doesn't really matter where they happen to be.
