That's true, but his shots go a lot further so there are less of them.
My Men's Club plays a 5 man scramble as a new member mixer to start each season. We use a format that I've found to be unusual but a lot more equitable than some other scramble setups. The way we do it, you can use any player's drive on any hole, BUT.... The player whose drive is selected does not get to play the second shot.
That's a great idea Fourputt. You could amend that to the player whose SHOT is selected. That could make a difference when putting or on Par 5 holes.

I was going to say that you don't have to always take the best shot. You pick which shot you are going to take. Your brother could be 100 yards past all of your shots. You don't have to take his shot.
